115 Wood Lilly Drive April 12, 2004 Student Government Dear Friends, Our organization brings us together as a team to represent the student body and bring young people into the political process. We are told to come up with the best and most efficient solution to this problem and a plan to expedite it. I happen to be leading because of my experience and know-how in running a meeting. Beyond that, each of you is an expert in some way in listening, talking, thinking, and understanding people. Each of you can try to be a catalyst, coordinator, and conductor. You will not be stepping on my toes if you help maintain the flow and energy. This means paying attention to how the meeting is going, not just how you are going. My meeting, your meeting, our meeting--one cannot succeed without the other. I hope to let you see clearly into what I say and do--to part the velvet curtain that only muffles communication between member and leader. I will speak for myself, and hope you will, too. I will stand by any member who is under unfair attack. I will attempt to free the team when it's shackled by the actions of one member. Remember that the organization belongs to you, and not to me. But know this... you will only get out of the Student Government what you are willing to put into it. Put in your best. Signed, Joseph L. Chambers |
